Air Seychelles has extended support to Elsia Françoise on her trip to Mauritius, in preparation for the official Miss Environment International Pageant set to be held in India this month.

Elsia, aged 19, departed Mahé yesterday morning on board Air Seychelles flight HM049 to Mauritius where she will be attending several training sessions in the following eight days, prior to representing Seychelles at the international pageantry in Mumbai, among approximately 40 confirmed international participating countries.

Thanking Air Seychelles for enabling the success of her trip to Mauritius, Elsia said: “I am immensely grateful to our national airline for making this trip possible. Following a positive dialogue held with the corporate affairs team, I now look forward to working closely with the airline, extending my support in any way I can through their corporate social responsibility initiatives, to further raise awareness about the importance of protecting the Seychelles ecosystem for the future generation to come.”

Sandy Benoiton, Air Seychelles’ chief executive, added: “Air Seychelles will continue to invest in communities and work with like-minded individuals who share the airline’s effort in raising awareness towards sustainable development. When approached by Elsia, we were very pleased to support her journey as it does not only further reaffirms our commitment in using effective platforms to raise awareness about the airline’s sustainable practices, but it also jointly provides her the opportunity to promote Seychelles, its ecosystem and endemics of which some are currently listed as ‘critically endangered’ globally.

“At Air Seychelles we have over these past years made considerable investment in the purchase of renewable energy equipment and we are passionate in helping communities where we operate to attain the desired level of excellence in sustainability, as part of our corporate social responsibility programme. On behalf of the Air Seychelles management and team, I wish Elsia all the best for taking the responsibility towards protection of the environment through pageantry.”

While waiting for her flight in the airline’s premium lounge, Elsia was also greeted by several visitors at this facility, including the Air Seychelles lounge team, who took the chance to capture several photographs with her wearing the Miss Environment Seychelles crown.
