For the holidays we’re making a variety of crafts on order, some are up on social media already, and we will continue to post some more.
We thought we’d share some easy crafts that you can make at home with the kids, as a family, during the school break for Christmas: (1) Picture frame ornament and (2) Christmas hat.
Craft 1: Picture frame ornament
What you need:
Popsicle sticks
Glue
Scissors
Ribbon
Materials to decorate with, e.g. sequins, glitter, paint
A photo
Steps:
- Create a shape to frame your photo out of the popsicle sticks. This can be a triangle, square, star or anything else.
- Glue the popsicle sticks together to secure the shape.
- Now, get creative and decorate your frame however you wish, with pompoms, paint, glitter, or sequins. You can also add names!
- If you paint the ornament, put it aside to dry for a few minutes.
- Cut out your photo in a shape that matches the ornament.
- Attach the photo to the back of the ornament using glue.
- Make a bow from the ribbon and leave a piece to form a loop.
- Attach the bow and loop onto the top of the ornament.
- There you have it, it’s ready to hang on your tree!
Craft 2: Christmas hat
What you need:
Paper in any colour or pattern of your choice
Glue
Tinsel Garland or ribbon
Pompom (optional)
String
Scissors
Steps:
- Using scissors, cut out a cone shape from the paper.
- Glue the ends of the paper together to secure the shape of the cone.
- Now, it’s time to decorate the hat. You can use either a pompom or cut a small piece of the tinsel garland and attach this to the top of the hat.
- Decorate the base of the hat with ribbon or garland.
- Attach the string to both sides of the hat, to wear it tightly.
- Add voilà, you have your Christmas hat.
