Hilton Seychelles Labriz kick starts second Campcation programme

After the success of its 2020 inaugural Campcation which was open only to the local market due to the pandemic travel restrictions, Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa 2021’s programme is open to both local residents and foreign guests.

The programme for kids aged 4 to 12 years old and their families, kicked off officially with a flag raising ceremony at the Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa on Saturday. The ceremony was attended by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde, the area general manager for Hilton Seychelles properties Andre Borg, the team on Silhouette island as well as a group of children.

The team on Silhouette island celebrated the beginning of the Campcation programme with a video show and a presentation followed by the flag-raising ceremony amongst little campers and their team leaders from Elite Dance Studio of Seychelles.

Like last year, the programme promises an exciting and engaging break full of new experiences for the whole family.

Partnering with Emma and Elvis Mothée, the owners and founders of Elite Dance Studio in Seychelles, Campcation aims to focus on nature and cultural activities to bring a local twist on last year’s programme.

“We aim to introduce both kids and their parents to the vibrant culture of Seychelles,” says Andre Borg.

“Emma and her team brought a dynamic and local approach to the whole set-up. As we are now expecting a great number of international travellers to come and experience Campcation in the month of August, it is of vital importance that we connect this experience to the destination with various activities for kids and their families. Children get to go on native plant trails and nature adventures and learn about the unique flora and fauna of Silhouette island as well as learning the basics of the Creole language and the traditional dances such as the Moutya and the Sega. We are very excited to introduce Seychelles to all generations,” said Mr Borg.

Throughout August, the Labriz Campcation curriculum will offer a wide choice of activities for the kids, their parents or guardians. Families with kids under four years old can enjoy an array of fun and educational activities at the Kids’ ClubJungle Fun.

Kids taking part in the programme are divided into three groups, according to age; Red Snappers (4-6 years) Frogs (6-9 years) and Bats (9-12 years). Each participant in the Campcation will complete three or more classes per day then move on to nature talks, football rounding out the day with a family activity during the evening.

Every week day the Campcation programme offers an array of classes for campers to choose from brain-stimulating games to skill-building, to treasure hunts and beyond. Each day offers truly enriching ways to learn in classes about native plants and animals, local history, science, or kids can choose to take part in a dance class, kids’ yoga, or head to the seaside for games, beach cleaning or a picnic with other campers. Cultural learning comes in the form of arts and craft classes, while tennis lessons, swimming, diving, kayaking, fish or tortoise feeding allow kids to take advantage of the balmy Seychellois weather and beautiful surrounds of the resort.

Events for the whole family include outdoor cinema screenings, stargazing, looking for local sheath-tailed bats and the chance to soak up the unique atmosphere of a traditional Creole Moutya dance and bonfire.

Parents hoping for some light social distancing from their kids can unwind throughout the day in the knowledge that their kids are being engaged, educated, and entertained. Adults who need an extra dose of relaxation will have the option to partake in a complimentary yoga class and spa discounts, while those with a taste for the finer things have the option to a complete complimentary wine course.

Campcation is available at 50% discounted rates for Seychellois residents. Those who are interested can get further information and quotation by emailing sezlb.reservations@hilton.com or by calling 429 39 49.
