The English River health centre yesterday afternoon received a batch of essential items which will be an added boost to its daily operations and management of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The donation which includes bed linens, pillows, hair caps, disposable aprons among others, is an initiative of the Retailers Association of Seychelles.

The association’s chairperson Kannusamy Naidu and Christopher Adrienne representing KAEL Imports handed over the items to the director of community health, Nicholas Shamlaye and nurse manager at the English River Health Centre, May Malcouzane in the presence of the district’s member of the National Assembly (MNA) Andy Labonté, MNA for St Louis Sathya Naidu as well as other health staff.

Mr Kannusamy said the donation is part of the association’s community outreach programme.

“It is a great honour to make this donation as we strongly believe in the principle of giving to the community,” said Mr Kannusamy.

For his part, Mr Adrienne encouraged other young business owners to also come forward to help the community.

Mr Shamlaye, on behalf of the management team and all the employees at the health centre, welcomed such a thoughtful gesture and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the retailers’ association, noting that all the items will come in very handy during this very hectic period where such essential items are increasingly in demand.
