10 elderly residents of La Retraite get new glasses

 

Ten elderly residents from the La Retraite Old People’s Home received their new frames and glasses from the district officer for Vision and Sight for Kids, Dharam Sharma.

This activity was supported by four clubs of Lions of Seychelles.

The residents of La Retraite Old People’s Home did a screening on May 28, 2021.

This is the second old people’s home where donation of glasses and frames was done. This activity forms part of a nation-wide vision screening project undertaken by Lions of Seychelles, Mauritius Commercial Bank with the support of the Seychelles government towards the noble vision project.

Lions Club conducted its first activity at the Plaisance home for the elderly.

All the residents expressed their happiness and thanked Lions of Seychelles for this wonderful initiative and which has made them see the world better now with an improved eyesight.

A total of twenty residents had free screening in November 2020 which was part of a nation-wide screening project for elderly residents in Seychelles.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions only the district officer and Optic Seychelles officer could attend this ceremony.

The activity was organised with support from Mauritius Commercial Bank, Health Care Agency, National Council for the Elderly, all Lions from Lions Club of Seychelles – Melvin Jones Foundation (MJF), Seychelles Centennial Women’s Lion Club and Rising Lions Clubs, Zone Chairperson & District 411A vision coordinator, district governor, Minister for Health Peggy Vidot, Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs Rose-Marie Hoareau, among others.
