‘45 years is a milestone’

"Today marks another milestone for the Seychelles NATION newspaper as you celebrate the 45th anniversary since your existence. As we commemorate this important day, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to all staff, past and present, for their service and who have played a pivotal role since the inception of this daily publication.

“The history of the now Seychelles NATION newspaper dates back to before the 1970s. On this special occasion it reminds us of the importance of providing information to the public in a credible and objective way.

“As a government we will continue to uphold the importance of the media and we remain fervently committed to promoting greater press freedom in Seychelles as well as promoting the values of impartiality and quality of information at all times.

“In this stance, I encourage you to continue forging ahead with great vigour and professionalism for the further advancement of print media in Seychelles.

“Once again, congratulations on this momentous achievement and important milestone.

“I wish the management and staff all the very best for the future."
