Seychelles and Bahrain sign memorandum of understanding

Highlights of the MoU signing ceremony

In a short virtual ceremony, the government of the Republic of Seychelles and the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain have agreed to enhance cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Mutual Recognition of Covid-19 Vaccination and Recovery Certificates.

The purpose of this MoU is to create the framework for the mutual recognition of Covid-19 vaccination and recovery certificates issued by both countries’ ministries of health.

It is additionally based on the mutual aspiration to revitalise the civil aviation and tourism sectors and to facilitate and enhance the safe travel of their citizens and residents between their countries, as part of the economic recovery initiatives following the Covid-19 crisis.

The MoU was signed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde and Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr Abdullatif Bin Rashid Al Zayani.

Minister Radegonde expressed Seychelles’ desire to push relations between the two countries further, highlighting also the accreditation of the first ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Seychelles which took place earlier this month.

Also present were the principal secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, director general of Bilateral Affairs, Lindy Ernesta and first secretary Wendy Isnard.
