‘Donald Duck’, the most famous cartoon duck character createdat Walt Disney Productions in 1934 and who made his first appearance on television screens worldwide when his debut film The Wise Little Hen was released, celebrated his 87th birthday yesterday.
Donald, the famous white duck which always wore his trade mark sailor’s shirt and cap with a bow tie, is known for his half intelligible speech and his mischievous, temperamental, and pompous personality. Together with his friend Mickey Mouse, Donald featured among 50 greatest cartoon characters of all time in 2002 and has earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He has appeared in more films than any other Disney character and is the most published comic book character in the world outside of the superhero genre.
Here in Seychelles like the world over Donald and his friends have won the hearts of both the young and the old. Even though now aged 87, and not as popular as in the 80s and 90s, a Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse cartoon every now and then surely brings back a lot of sweet memories, laughter and of course a relaxing moment.
