ISS excels in World Environment Day competition

In these difficult days of restricted movement and disrupted education students from primary and secondary were delighted to be involved in the Seychelles Island Foundation’s (SIF) Virtual Trail quiz. The questions were asked live from the Vallée de Mai and quick typing skills and sharp wittedness were a pre-requisite for success.

Secondary pupils Yan Luc Morel, Janani Jagannathan, Joshua Allcorn and Terron Dang-Kowe from Year 8 and primary pupils Darnell Vincent, Leah Ah-Time, Tigist Kidwell and Ema Jesic from Year 6 of the International School Seychelles competed against teams from schools all over Seychelles.

Research had been done on the Vallée de Mai Unesco Heritage Site and the hard work and interest in the environment and endemic species proved worthwhile as both teams in the section won first prize for their section.

Special mention prize were also won by Yan Luc Morel and Darnell Vincent for scoring the highest points. Both teams will have a guided tour of the Vallée de Mai in the future when inter- island travel returns to normal.
