Once again, the Rotary Club of Victoria has come forward to assist the victims of a fire incident which occurred on April 30, 2021 at Marguerita Arissol’s house at Pointe Larue.

The President of the Rotary Club of Victoria, Charlie Ng and Ambassador Marie Pierre Lloyd made this donation on behalf of all the members of the club.

“Rotary Club of Victoria exists for more than 50 years and its motto is ‘Service before self’. When we heard about the fire accident which occurred at the Arissol family some two weeks ago, members reacted and we collected some R10,000 which we are handing over today as STC vouchers. Another member, VJ Vairasamy also donated a R1000 voucher which can be used at Vimal Supermarket in Victoria, Bel Ombre or Pointe Conan. We hope this donation will help the family in this difficult time and once the house is rebuilt, we will see how we can help,” noted Mr Ng.

The spokesperson for the family, Marguerita Arissol, told Seychelles NATION that this accident completely shattered their normal lives.

“In this accident three households were affected. We have been living in this place since 1967 and seeing it all gone, breaks our heart. But we saw how the community came forward and help us with clothes, food and basic necessities. We are currently living at the Reef Holiday Apartment and this Friday we will move out. The government has decided to move the three families to Capucins, Barbarons and Anse Etoile for one year. In the meantime, the government through Housing will rebuild the house. We will definitely miss each other but we will have to make this sacrifice.”

In this incident three children and youth have been affected. So far two of them have received two sets of uniforms but they still need assistance with bags and accessories.

The entire Arissol family is grateful to the public for their kind assistance and they were touched by the amount of calls, financial help as well as other forms of assistance with regard to their immediate needs.

“We still need assistance in getting household stuff and during this pandemic, things are getting harder.”

If you want to contribute towards these families you can contact Mrs Arissol on 2722899 or Daniela Arissol on 2729067.
