Covid-19 vaccinations continue this week |28 April 2021

The national immunisation campaign against the Covid-19 pandemic is set to continue throughout the week, with both the Sinopharm and Covishield vaccines on offer.

Five centres were open yesterday, and offering the second doses of both the Sinopharm and Covishield vaccines, for all persons who received the first Sinopharm dose before April 5 and the first Covishield dose, namely, the Grand Anse Praslin health centre, Béolière health centre, the Anse Royale community centre, ICCS and the Mont Fleuri district centre.

Today will see six centres offering the second dose of both vaccines for persons who received the first dose of the respective vaccines before the stipulated timeframe. In addition to the five centres which were operational yesterday, the vaccines will also be administered at the Logan Hospital, La Digue, for residents of the island.

Only four centres will be open on Thursday, namely the Beau Vallon health centre which will be operational between 8am and 3pm, while the Anse Royale community centre, ICCS and the Mont Fleuri district community centre will be operational between 8am and 5pm.

Friday will also see five centres in operation, namely Grand Anse Praslin and Beau Vallon health centres, the Anse Royale community centre, ICCS and Mont Fleuri district community centre.

In addition to the second doses of both vaccines, the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine will also be available at all centres as of today (Wednesday).

As at April 26, a total of 66,583 persons had received the first dose of either the Sinopharm of Covishield vaccine against Covid-19, representing 95 percent of the 70,000 target population, while 57,248 persons have also received the second dose, representing 82 percent of the target population.

If considered in terms of the total population of 98,462, a total of 68 percent of the population has received the first dose, while 58 percent has completed both doses.
