International Food Solutions donates over R132,000 worth of goods to the less fortunate

The handover of the donation

As part of its community engagements for the wellbeing of families in need due to the circumstances and socio-economic impacts of Covid-19, the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) has acquired and reached out to partners who willingly donated towards its cause to “better lives of families”.

Among the local businesses who generously heeded the society’s call is the International Food Solutions who contributed over one hundred and thirty-two thousand rupees (R132,000) worth of dry and frozen goods such as yoghurt, a variety of biscuits, sugar, among other items to the RCSS. The goods will be distributed to all schools in the country to cater for the less fortunate children.

The goods were handed over to RCSS intern Samual Soopramanian by the IFS human resource manager Angela Figaro, in a short ceremony at the RCSS’ headquarters at Providence, in the presence of the President of the RCSS, Kisnan Tamatave, the secretary general, Marie-May Esparon, and staff from both parties.

In her remarks upon presentation of the goods, Ms Figaro stated that the IFS had chosen the RCSS part of its global association in services rendered to the communities worldwide.

She noted that “the services and assistance being provided by the RCSS to support the local population is being recognised and IFS is proud to be able to be part of this great gesture. This is also to show our appreciation and recognition to the great work of the National Society and its staff and volunteers”.

Ms Figaro also pledged the IFS’ continued support and partnering with the RCSS.

“The giving of something small can make a great difference to someone or a family in need,” she pointed out.

For his part, the RCSS President thanked the IFS stating that “there are many people in the community who are in need, more than those coming forward”. He also expressed the gratitude of the National Society to all its local partners and donors as “it is what we get from our local partners and share to those in need locally, is what prompts the assistance we get from regional and international partners and therefore the reason we keep giving back what we get”.

The RCSS would like to once again thank the IFS and other current and future partners for their generous giving. We are only one but together with you we can reach out to the community and make many lives much better.
