International Women’s Day messages ‘Women of Seychelles – we are stronger and wiser than we think’ – Minister Zialor

Minister Zialor

“International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8 to honour women in all their splendour, and this year is no exception despite this Covid-9 pandemic. This year’s UN theme is ‘Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in Covid-19 world’.

“As we witness the impact of the pandemic on our family, community, and country, women have had to enhance their leadership. The trials faced by women in all walks of life have never been as overwhelming as many are front-liners, health professionals, domestic caregivers, and community volunteers. Admirably women have also demonstrated the ability for home-schooling and becoming business innovators.

“This is a time for all of us to reflect and focus on the opportunities presented by this pandemic and not only the difficulties. This requires a shift in thinking, it requires that every woman challenges her own thinking, challenges her beliefs, and challenges her current situation. Women of Seychelles I invite you today, to choose to challenge. Choose to challenge your limited self-belief, choose to challenge the social practices that put you at risk, choose to challenge the activities which are not good for your health, choose to challenge the actions that contaminate your soul, and choose to challenge the actions that prevent you from loving yourself, and prevent you from loving another sister.

“We can rise above adversities. We have a role to educate our younger generations to toughen up for the good and hard times to come. We have a role to promote the love for entrepreneurship and find innovative ways to create new opportunities. Women of Seychelles – we are stronger and wiser than we think, we do not need a post title to be a leader. Let us allow the genius inside all of us to be free to influence the world.

“Since most women in Seychelles are the head of their households, allowing the genius inside of you to come out, will have a positive impact on your family and hence on the country’s wellbeing.

“In this evolution, I would like to encourage the men in our lives and society to support our women and be that better partner and collaborator that we know you can be. Together let us take the opportunity to educate ourselves in new areas and subjects, take up new job opportunities, grow current or new businesses, and find innovative ways to facilitate a better quality of life for your families, and ultimately enhance the national development of our country.

“I would like to sincerely wish all women in Seychelles a happy and blessed International Women’s Day!
