International Women’s Day message by Waso’s chairperson Rosemary Elizabeth |08 March 2021

‘Let’s unite to fight and to put an end to violence against women and girls’

“The Women in Action and Solidarity Organisation (Waso) wishes every women, girls in Seychelles, especially its members a ‘Happy Women’s Day!’

“In spite of the many challenges, as an association, Waso reaffirms its engagement to support women’s and girls’ causes and to work together in love in order to turn challenges into opportunities.

“We are convinced that in spite of all the challenges women and girls still face today, there are far more many opportunities ahead of us. So let’s remain focus on making the right choice.

“To make the most of it, first and foremost let us be united and work together. Support each other both in good times and in difficult moments, let’s hold each other’s hands as we move forwards.

“My challenging message for the day is for us to take action to end any form of violence against our sisters, be it in Seychelles, in Africa and in other parts of the world. Let’s speak with one voice, and act with one accord. Let’s unite to fight and to put an end to violence against women and girls. This should be our choice! Women cannot keep on fighting against women! Any forms of abuse against women and girls and equally against our brothers is a violation of human rights and Waso condemns it in all its forms.

“Let’s bear in mind that it’s only by putting an end to human rights abuse that we will pave the way for universal love, peace and happiness!”
