Covid-19 update 80 new cases in two days and one death |13 February 2021

80 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded on Thursday and Friday bringing the total number of cases recorded in Seychelles to 1,848, while the number of deaths has now reached eight.

Yesterday, 46 new cases were registered and of the new cases, 38 were sampled on February 10 and 8 on February 11. Twelve (12) are foreigners and 34 are Seychellois. 3 are from Praslin and the remaining from Mahé.

On Thursday, 34 cases were recorded ‒ four foreigners and 30 Seychellois. They are all from Mahé.

In total, 56 cases ‒ 21 on Thursday and 35 yesterday ‒ (8 foreigners and 13 Seychellois) met discharge criteria and have been discharged into convalescence.

Following the death of a person last week, investigations conducted have revealed that the cause was

Covid-19 related.

Everyone is advised to continue practice the different measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. Keep interactions to immediate households (the persons you live with) only and to not gather in crowds. Other measures to follow:

• Wear a mask in public places and where physical distancing cannot be maintained

• Practise hand hygiene regularly

• Avoid gatherings and crowds

• Avoid sharing objects

• Practise physical distancing of more than 1 metre.
