Beauty queens donate to health care workers |04 February 2021
The winners of the Miss Seychelles National Pageant 2020 have made a donation to the health staff involved in the vaccination of the population against the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The donation comprises a batch of kitchen and toilet sanitary towels, refreshments (juice, water, milk) and fruits.
It was handed over by Miss Seychelles Kelly-Mary Anette, First Princess Shannen Henrie and Second Princess Elsia Françoise to the chief executive and deputy chief executive of the Health Care Agency, Dr Danny Louange and Kathleen Cecile respectively, in a small ceremony held at the Seychelles Hospital.
Present was Stephanie Duval, the chairperson of Beauty Empowerment Seychelles (Bes), the organiser of the Miss Seychelles National Pageant.
The three ladies said the donation was a message of encouragement to others to also come forward to help in motivating the medical staff working with the vaccination campaign.
They said the donation was also their way of showing appreciation and encouragement to the medical staff and to thank them for the good and hard work they are doing.
“We are not only about beauty and so on and so forth but we also want to do something positive with regard to the vaccination campaign,” Ms Anette said.
“We know they are working long hours and so we wanted to provide them with some basic things that will meet their basic needs during this time in their daily duties,” added Ms Henrie.
While they are still waiting for their turns to be vaccinated against the virus, the three called on those who are not yet vaccinated to do so when the time comes.
On behalf of the Ministry of Health, Dr Louange thanked the three beauty queens for their generous gesture.
He commended the three lovely young ladies for their strong message calling on others to join hands in helping to motivate the medical staff in the fight against the virus.
“It is such a great pleasure to accept a donation from a group of beautiful and intelligent ladies. We welcome and salute your message of Seychelles coming together to give more not only in terms of material stuff but also in terms of psycho-social support and also to encourage our team to work towards our vaccination targets,” Dr Louange said.
“Just like you, we also want to encourage all to take their vaccines as the vaccines is for us Seychelles to move to the next level of this pandemic which is to open our country to our visitors so that our economy can bounce back to where it was before,” Dr Louange added.
Apart from their own self-financing, including from Bes, the three ladies also received sponsorships from other individuals whom they thanked dearly.
The Miss Seychelles 2020 National Pageant was held that the International Conference Centre (ICCS) on the night of Monday December 7, 2020.
