Two banks donate to Covid-19 relief fund |03 February 2021
Two banks based in Seychelles – the Bank of Baroda and Al Salam Bank – have contributed R50,000 each to the Covid-19 relief fund.
It was the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning and Trade, Naadir Hassan, who accepted their donations on behalf of the government.
The donations were handed over by the banks’ respective chief executive – Ashok Kumar from the Bank of Baroda and Asim Kumar from Al Salam Bank.
Also present were Roger Toussaint, the general manager of the Al Salam Bank and the chairperson of the Seychelles Bankers Association, Phillip Moustache.
Expressing his appreciation for the donations, Minister Hassan pointed out that all donations going towards the Covid-19 relief fund is ‘most welcome’ taking into account the ‘invaluable work’ the staff of the Ministry of Health is undertaking during this health crisis.
“Any donation received will go a long way in helping the country to meet its target, to vaccinate the population against Covid-19,” the minister added.
The representatives of the two banks said “the donations will benefit the country”.
“It is our way of showing our appreciation and support to the Ministry of Health, especially in this difficult time.”
