Beauty queens receive their prizes
Eleven days after Miss Seychelles 2020, Kelly-Mary Anette, was crowned and other sashes were won, the beauty queens received their prizes during a ceremony held on Friday.
The small prize-giving ceremony at Star Casino saw the presence of all eleven contestants, including Miss Seychelles and her two princesses, the pageant’s organisers from Beauty Empowerment Seychelles (Bes) and various sponsors.
With her win, the new Miss Seychelles Kelly-Mary will become the face of cosmetics and beauty store MADO for a year.
Aside from gaining this modeling experience from the event’s main sponsor, Kelly-Mary also clinched a number of interesting prizes such as R20,000 from MADO, weekend stays at Fregate Island and Le Duc Praslin, jewelry sets, vouchers from various fashion boutiques, photo-shoots, vouchers from different beauty parlours, free cable TV subscription among others. Kelly-Mary also won prizes as Miss Talent.
First Princess Shannen Henrie collected a cash prize of R15,000, weekend stay at L’Habitation Cerf Island, jewelry, a beauty basket, cable TV subscription and vouchers.
She also took home prizes that went along with her People’s Choice and Miss Photogenic awards.

Individual prizes were also awarded to contestants who had claimed titles such as Miss Sports, Miss Glamorous & Best Evening Wear, Miss Personality, Best Pageant Walk, Best Creative Costume, Miss Empowerment and Pageant Spirit.
It is important to note that all contestants, regardless of whether they won a title or not, received several prizes comprising of a diploma course from the Seychelles Olympics and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga), kayak touring trips and a certificate of participation.
With Friday’s ceremony wrapping up the exciting Miss Seychelles 2020 journey, Kevin Perrine, a member of the Bes organising team and co-founder of the pageant, noted that Bes could not have been prouder of the event and the contestants.
“Even with Covid-19, the pageant has surpassed our expectations. We thought that it would end up being a virtual event but with everything in Seychelles settling down, we could do a live show. Some sponsors backed out but overall we are very satisfied since we gained a Miss Seychelles of a high standard,” he said.
“We have a year ahead of us to prepare the new Miss Seychelles for an international pageant; we are still in negotiations on whether she will go to Miss Universe or Miss World. We are anticipating that Seychelles perfoms as well in the international pageant and that our flag floats high like in sporting events.”
Bes’ primary aim is to empower women in the society and hopes that the talents of the contestants that have come to light during the pageant are put to good use.
