Access to airport, seaports and tourism establishments |14 December 2020

Strict entry policy to be enforced as from today

As from today, Monday Decemebr 14, 2020, car hires, taxi and omnibus operators will not gain access to the airport, seaports and any tourism establishment without a ‘safe certified sticker’.

This is a measure put in place by the Public Health Authority (PHA) in collaboration with the department of Land Transport and that of Tourism in a bid to reduce and eliminate the spread of Covid-19.

“In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a higher need for more preventive measures and risk management policies to be put in place alongside other existing public health measures,” says a press release from the department of Land Transport.

The operators who have been certified and granted approval for entry will have a green sticker placed on their vehicle. This will allow all security personnel to be able to easily identify who have been authorised to continue operating at the airport, seaport and tourism establishments.

The department of Land Transport and the Public Health Authority had been conducting a series of training since July 2020 to help land transport operators earn their certification and safe stickers, with the last training conducted on Wednesday November 25, 2020.

All land transport operators who attended the trainings got a chance to learn about various measures to be implemented into their services, such as;

  • cleaning and disinfecting method
  • operation of vehicle and handling of clients
  • Risk management
  • Monitoring and reporting

The authorities are counting on the cooperation and support from the operators and the public in general to respect and abide by the protocols in line with the public health measures.
