First virtual graduation ceremony for University of Botswana

The three graduates: (l to r) Elvis Alphonse, Angela Valmont and Ivans Morel

Ivan Morel wins dean’s award for faculty of education

Three Seychellois students who have successfully completed their Bachelor’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Botswana attended the institution’s 38th graduation ceremony virtually on Thursday afternoon.

This year however, the ceremony was special for the graduating students, as it was the university’s first virtual graduation.

The graduates attended the ceremony at the Agency for National Human Resource Development’s (ANHRD) head office in the presence of chief executive Nadia Lauricourt, staff members of the agency and their university colleagues.

All three students ‒ Ivans Andy Nichole Morel, Elvis Claude Alphonse and Angela Belinda Mary Valmont ‒ passed with first class honours. Additionally, Ivans Andy Nichole Morel has been awarded the Dean’s Award for the Faculty of Education.

The graduates expressed that although it was challenging to undertake the final year of their studies online because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they supported each other and persevered to ensure that they make not only themselves and their families proud but also their country. They also thanked the government of Seychelles for providing them with the opportunity to further their studies and the AHNRD for its continued support throughout their journey.

Altogether, 2,500 students graduated from the University of Botswana.
