Commonwealth SG thanks Danny Faure for his leadership role

President Faure meets The Right Honourable Patricia Scotland QC on one of his missions overseas last year

Two weeks already since Danny Faure handed over the presidency to Wavel Ramkalawan who won the presidential election of October 22-24 with 54.9% of the votes, the former is still receiving messages of appreciation for his work done.

The latest has been signed by The Right Honourable Patricia Scotland QC, secretary general of the Commonwealth.

Her message reads: “I write on behalf of the Commonwealth to extend heartfelt appreciation for your exemplary leadership of the people of Seychelles who you have served as President for the last four years, and also for your commendable support towards advancing the work, values and principles of the Commonwealth throughout.

“Your dedicated service to your nation and your magnanimity are classic hallmarks of statesmanship that embodies the core values of the Commonwealth.

“Throughout your tenure, Seychelles remained an active and exemplary member of the Commonwealth, and has been a reliable partner in our collective efforts to promote sustainable development and democracy in the Commonwealth family.

“I wish you a very pleasant and productive future as you plan your next steps. I am sure that many more, and even greater, successes await you after your Presidency, and hope that the Commonwealth can count on your services as an esteemed African statesman in future endeavours.

“With all good wishes.”
