LDS issues statement on vandalisation incident at Perseverance |16 October 2020

The Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) has issued a statement dissociating itself from an incident in which the car of Bernard St Ange, the National Assembly candidate for One Seychelles in Perseverance, was vandalised in the course of Wednesday night and the letters LDS sprayed on it.

The incident happed in Perseverance.

The LDS statement regarding the incident reads:

“We have learned early this morning that the car of Mr Bernard St. Ange, the National Assembly candidate for One Seychelles in Perseverance, was vandalised in the course of last night and the letters LDS sprayed on it.

“LDS dissociates itself from any such act of vandalism. We strongly condemn this particular incident and any others of the kind. While remaining uncertain as to who is responsible until the police investigation is done and a statement can be made in this respect, we ask, in the name of fairness, that no unfounded allegations are made until a conclusion can be reached.

“We ask that the police make every possible effort to investigate this incident thoroughly and to take any action that may be appropriate in the exercise of their duties and the service of the law.

“LDS extends its sympathy to Mr St Ange and others who have been victims of malicious acts in this election period. These include Mr James Lesperance, the owner of a business vandalised at Providence Industrial Estate and Mr David Gonthier, the owner of a fishing boat vandalised at Anse Royale. According to reports we have received, other fishing boats at Anse Royale have been vandalised and we extend sympathy to their owners as well.”
