The State Assurance Corporation of Seychelles (Sacos) has awarded ten lucky policy holders of its Home (Private Property) Insurance policy with a free 4-year home insurance cover for an insured sum of up to R2 million.

They were picked from the draw gab among 4000 plus existing household policy holders, eligible for a chance to win. The draw was part of celebrations to mark Sacos’ 40th anniversary on August 1, 2020.

Handy Larue, Jean-Louis & Juliette Henry, Antoine Simeon & Georges Lowhong, Jeanne D'Arc Dookley, Leon Noel, Ralph Cesar, Lita Elisabeth, Priscilla Dzinemarira & Lucie Prodon, Brigitte Loze and Janese Jules were presented with their prizes by the chief executive of Sacos Jennifer Morel, in a small ceremony held on Tuesday afternoon at the company’s head office, Maison Esplanade.

Present were the head of general insurance Fiona Vidot, and other Sacos representatives, including representatives of household policy holders not present.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary under the them ‘Thanking you for being part of our past, our present and our future’, Sacos conducted a series of social corporate activities and ran a number of corporate promotions where it had been giving free give aways to its customers.

The series of social corporate activities and corporate promotions was the way for Sacos to value its customers who have contributed to the success of the company over the years and to thank them for their continued loyalty.

Mrs Morel said that Sacos is extending its newly introduced 40 days’ free householders cover promotion until December 31, 2020 to all new customers as well as on renewals for existing policyholders.

She further said that in view of the economic situation on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, people should take no chances with regard to their investments and should consider insuring their homes.

“Many homeowners may find themselves at a greater disadvantage in these difficult times if something was to happen to their homes, be it in the event of a fire or some other peril. The cost of rebuilding or replacing damaged properties can be a long and financially draining journey for the victim. The Householders Policy provides the much needed cushion against any further financial constraints to the policyholders,” she said, noting it is why Sacos is extending the promotion and also providing installment facilities where needed so that people can keep their house protected.

Some of the winners who talked to Seychelles NATION said that they were happy to have won their prizes which to them mean additional savings in this time of pandemic.

Ms Vidot said that in the past most policy holders were linked to mortgages but there have been an influx, very recently, of new customers without any link to a mortgage, who have come forward to take the home insurance, “especially now that Sacos has extended its 40 days’ free householders cover promotion”.

Sacos’ home insurance policy is designed to meet the needs of home owners by providing compensation in the event that you should suffer damage to or loss of your home due to an unforeseen event, such as fire and other risks.

The Home (Private Property) Insurance comprises two elements: building insurance and home contents insurance.

Building insurance would cover permanent fixtures such as bathroom, wardrobes and kitchen as well as the bricks and mortar whereas home contents cover belongings in the home such as the TV and other electrical goods, clothing, furnishings, jewellery and art.
