Electoral Commission releases code of conduct for the media

 

The Electoral Commission Seychelles has released its code of conduct for the media leading up to the 2020 Presidential and National Assembly elections which will take place on October 22-24.

This code, which has been endorsed by the Seychelles Media Commission, aims at ensuring that the level of election reporting in Seychelles is one of international standard.

The code is based on the good practices of electoral reporting from SADC and outlines the roles of journalists, media owners, government / political parties and the Electoral Commission within the structure of elections and best practices for media to interact with the various stakeholders during the electoral period.

As a furtherment to this code, all reported breaches in the code of conduct should be reported to the Electoral Commission Seychelles on pr@ecs.sc.
