Magistrate Court orders release of three drug suspects from police custody |08 September 2020

Two men and a woman were ordered to be released without any condition from the police custody after they appeared before the Magistrate Court last week. They were all arrested for drug offences by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) within the Seychelles Police Force, during two separate ANB operations and they were in possession of drugs.

A couple of Corgat Estate, a 26-year-old male casual labourer and his partner a 41-year-old female Seychelles Hospital ward assistant, were released on Thursday September 3, 2020. They were both arrested on Wednesday September 2, 2020 at their home in possession of approximately 94 grammes of suspected heroin, approximately 49 grammes of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) and approximately 2 grammes of suspected herbal cannabis along with a digital scale.

A 44-year-old male carer of La Rosière was released on Friday September 4, 2020. He was arrested on Thursday September 3, 2020 at his home in possession of approximate 738 grammes of cannabis resin (hashish) along with a digital scale, seven mobile phones and two satellite phones.

Investigation is still ongoing in these two cases and the suspects are expected to appear before the court as the case progresses.
