Knockout results for ISS at iGCSE and A-Level |03 September 2020

IGCSE and A-Level results at the International School Seychelles are up for the fourth year in a row as students have achieved a swathe of top grades.

Elodie Vallantine, head of secondary at International School Seychelles (ISS), is delighted with the students’ achievements this year.

“We congratulate all of our students who have done so very well. These results are a tribute to the hard work of the conscientious students and expert teaching staff at ISS. As a non-selective school, we continue to produce outstanding results and we celebrate a fantastic year for our students. We are all extremely proud of our students, some of them having been at ISS since joining in the early years. Students should also be proud of their achievements and hard work on their course and, despite not having the chance to sit the exams, these results should stand as testament to the academic progress and ambition of ISS students. I am delighted that the calculations show that our grades have improved again for the fourth consecutive year, both for iGCSE and A-Level. Our holistic approach leads to students fulfilling their academic potential while developing body and mind through sport, creativity, teamwork and service,” said Mrs Vallantine.

Unlike the majority of schools in Seychelles, all ISS students sit their examinations in the June series, not the November series, which unfortunately means they are not in a position to be considered for Cambridge (CAIE) awards. Nonetheless, when analysing ISS impressive examination results, ISS students have performed in line with students in some of the most prestigious independent schools in the United Kingdom.

A-Level highlights

At A-Level, a record-breaking 49 percent of grades awarded were A* or A, and the overall proportion of A*, A or B grades was 81 percent. All ISS students achieved a pass rate of 100 per cent.

Maths, English, the Sciences, the Humanities and the Arts continue to be beacons of excellence.
