Family, relatives, friends and church-goers on Saturday joined Regis and Noemie Godley to celebrate the joyous occasion of their Golden wedding anniversary.

The overjoyed and emotion-filled couple celebrated the milestone anniversary with an intimate ceremony at the Saint John Baptist Church, Glacis on Saturday evening whereby they renewed their vows in the presence of their loved ones, followed by a small and intimate reception at their daughter’s residence, L’ilot, Glacis.

The couple tied the knot on Saturday August 29, 1970, at the same Church when Mr Godley was 23 years old, and his bride 18 years of age. The pair had become acquainted and formed a friendship when Mr Godley would drop off a young Noemie at Glacis school, where she worked as a teacher.

Both Mr and Mrs Godley are well-known in their communities. Mrs Godley served as a teacher at Glacis and Bel Ombre for an impressive 47 years, since 1968.

Mr Godley on the other hand worked as a taxi driver for several years before transitioning into construction as a crane operator, where he participated in the construction of many major projects including the Seychelles International Airport and the new port.

The couple are proud parents to two girls, Jenny and Gillian. They also have four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
