Grub Street, newest outlet offering a range of tasty chicken snacks

Residents of Anse Royale, those from areas further south and west of Mahé as well as beachgoers and UniSey students will from now on have a new food and drinks outlet to patronise.

This follows the opening yesterday morning of ‘Grub Street Your New Food Address’ in the centre of Anse Royale.

Situated in a strategic spot near the main road adjacent to the Chop Shop Meat & Delioutlet and just opposite the Anse Royale market and Olé Restaurant, ‘Grub Street Your New Food Address’ comes to add variety, taste and choice to the public at large as it specialises in what the managers consider “a tasty range of golden fried chicken, grilled burgers, freshly made sandwiches, creamy milk shakes and much more – which are differently delicious”.

The prices range from R35 for one piece of crispy chicken, R15 for a small sachet of French fries, different prices for various nugget pieces, R50 for a Grub chicken or beef burger and up to R95 for a large combo which comprises fries, burger and soft drink. While prices for combos vary depending on the size, the prices of sandwiches also vary. There are also menus for kids as well as a variety of bread, cakes, ice-cream and soft drinks.

To start with the outlet has five members of staff of whom two are Seychellois offering the quality service which goes with the equally quality products.

The take-away outlet opens Monday to Saturday from 11am to 8.30pm according to manager Ashish Ramola.

He noted that to start with they are focusing on opening six days a week but all will depend on how business progresses.

“We are offering the best and tastiest variety of fast food people of this area have ever tasted and we intend to ensure quality of our products at all times,” said Mr Ramola.

‘Grub Street Your New Food Address’ take-away food outlet is the newest venture of the Global Supply Centre (PTY) LTD after the Maharajas Restaurant at Eden Island.

The food, vegetable and drink supply centre has been operating in Seychelles for the past eight years.

Anshul Sharma, restaurant manager of the Maharajas as well as the newly opened Grub Street, said they are excited by this new venture as he believes like its name Grub Street people in the area will have a new food address to search for.

“We believe there is a need for such a fast food restaurant in this part of the island as there is none in the area and our price range is affordable. We are happy that the outlet has opened,” he said.

Mr Sharma went on to add that they have great plans for Grub Street in terms of diversifying their products and menu in the near future.

He said the outlet was expected to have opened since around March but has been delayed due to the current Covid-19 situation.

Mr Sharma has also said that in the near future they are planning to add tents in the space outside the outlet together with some standing tables and bar stools for the convenience of clients.

Meanwhile some of the first customers have welcomed the taste and choice for food in the area especially when it comes to lunch hour.

“Really good initiative; it has brought more choice for people who work in the area,” a taxi driver pointed out.

“The new take away outlet not only adds to variety, taste and choice but it is bringing more activity, more colour and life to this part of the district and I am really happy that gradually Anse Royale is living up to its title of 2nd town after Victoria,” one lady told me.
