Three men convicted in separate drug cases |04 August 2020
The Supreme Court has convicted three men in three separate drug cases, after they all pleaded guilty to the offence of trafficking in of a controlled drug.
On Tuesday July 28, 2020, Dereck Samson, a 42-year-old casual labourer of North East Point, was sentenced to one-year imprisonment, suspended for three years and a fine of R10,000 payable within a six-month period. Samson was arrested at North East Point on July 1, 2017 by officers of the then National Drugs Enforcement Agency (NDEA) in possession of 2.07 grammes of heroin.
On Friday July 24, 2020 two men were both convicted to one year imprisonment, suspended for two years. They are Ibrahim Denise, an 18-year-old casual labourer of Les Mamelles who was arrested at the Central Police Station, Victoria, on September 15, 2019 by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) within the Seychelles Police Force, in possession of 9.35 grammes of heroin.
The third convict, Antoine Cousin, a 24-year-old casual labourer of Anse Des Genets, was arrested at Cascade on July 22, 2019 by ANB officers, in possession of 5.07 grammes of heroin.
