H. Savy Insurance (HSI) has donated R51,000 to support the 17 families who lost all their possessions in a devastating fire recently on Praslin.

The donation was facilitated through a partnership with the Red Cross Society of Seychelles, (RCSS) under the HSI Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

It was the RCSS President Kisnan Tamatave who accepted the donation from HSI corporate affairs manager, Marie-Paule Lesperance, in small ceremony that took place at the Pension Fund Complex, Praslin on Wednesday last week.

“Like many others in the community, HSI was also touched by the horrific incident that affected the families, and decided to show our support through a donation,” said Ms Lesperance.

“Each family received a contribution of R3,000 which we hope will be of great help now that they have been relocated to a temporary home,” added Ms Lesperance.

Mr Tamatave encouraged the families to make good use of the donation and all other assistance provided to them following the incident.

“In order to better assist the families, RCSS has also started a needs assessment which will allow us to focus on the individual needs of all family members, for example parents with small children will require further assistance in the coming months to take care of their infants,” said Mr Tamatave.

Also present at the handover ceremony was another HSI representative from Praslin, Margaret Lefournour, RCSS volunteer Anita Joubert together with the Grand Anse district administrator, Moses Barbe.
