COVID-19: Travel confusion and uncertainty |05 May 2020

Sri Lankan Airlines offering clients different travel options, refund

With airspace closed as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc across all sectors of the world economy and turn people’s lives upside down, travel upheavals are also being felt in Seychelles as many people who are planning to travel worry of the difficult travelling prospect ahead.

Sri Lankan Airlines in Seychelles has meanwhile reassured passengers and clients that the airline is offering them different choices and travel options.

Sri Lankan Airlines country manager for Seychelles, Pradeep Durairaj, has said there are clients who have already booked their flights and those who have already been issued with their tickets but unfortunately for them for the time being Sri Lanka, like many other countries, is still closed to international flights and travellers until further notice.

Mr Durairaj noted that passengers can either defer or push their travelling to a date much later during the year or they can choose to file for a refund.

“All these options can be discussed further and clients would be properly advised as to the best options if they come in person to the airline’s office,” said Mr Durairaj.

Sri Lankan Airlines station manager, Franky Hetimier, is also encouraging all clients who bought tickets at the airline’s office, situated in the Ebrahim Building on Francis Rachel Street, to come over to be properly advised and to explore the different travel options and choices being offered to them and also the procedures to follow to file for a refund.

“For those passengers who have bought their tickets online or from other travel agents, they have to go back online or to their respective travel agents to apply for the refund,” Mr Hetimier explained.
