The heavy rains that swept the island yesterday is expected to subside today, according to meteorologists.

Vincent Amelie, chief executive of the Seychelles Meteorological Office, said that it is normal at this time to experience this shift in weather, particularly when we're changing seasons.

“We are experiencing what is called intra-seasonal rainfall. However it is expected to last only today (yesterday) as we are not anticipating similar trend over the coming months till the next rainy season,” said the CEO.

The Department of Risk and Disaster Management (DRDM) also recorded a number of cases throughout yesterday. However they could not comment on the severity of the damages or the exact number of people who were affected.
