COVID-19 - President gives moral support to law enforcement personnel on inner islands |16 April 2020
Following the recent measures to restrict movement in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the public have been asked to stay at home and avoid unnecessary movement.
The Seychelles Police Force jointly with the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) have the responsibility of ensuring that the public respect the measures announced.
This is not necessarily an easy task but these individuals are trying their utmost to ensure the safety of our country.
President Danny Faure yesterday visited the police and SPDF forces on Praslin and La Digue to thank them for their hard work and encourage them to maintain their efforts. President Faure recognises their sacrifices and long working hours and congratulated them for playing a key role in helping fight this pandemic.
So far, the public have shared positive feedback towards the work being conducted by the police and SPDF forces and President Faure has praised their efforts, all the while reminding them to ensure that they take all precautionary measures to protect themselves primarily and follow the health department’s advice.
On his part, the Commissioner of Police, Kishnan Labonte, also thanked the officers for their hard work during this difficult time.
“The police force is playing a vital role in fighting the coronavirus pandemic and we are using our available resources to ensure that the public respect measures in place. We are scheduled to receive new resources among those received yesterday morning from Jack Ma Foundation and this will further assist us in our operations,” he said.
On their part, the officers also thanked President Faure for his visit which shows his interest in and appreciation for their work.
