New operating hours for all petrol stations |30 March 2020

Abiding by the new guidelines imposed by President Danny Faure in his speech on March 27, the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited (Seypec) has set new operating hours for all its petrol stations across the country.

While doing a round in Victoria on Saturday, we observed that the Roche Caiman South Petrol Station was not so busy even if it was only 3pm.

Moziane Léon, who is in charge of the station, noted that “already since the arrival of COVID-19 in our country, business has already gone down even if we were open until 11pm. After 7pm already, we noticed a reduction in the number of clients. So this is why we revised our hours also”.

Seypec also noted that the new hours of operations will prevent people from circulating on the road.

As published in our newspaper and aired on television and radio, the new operating hours for Victoria North Petrol Station (Ile du Port) and Victoria South Petrol Station (Roche Caiman) will be from 7am to 9pm. The operating hours for the petrol stations at Anse Royale, Pointe Larue, Grand Anse Mahé will be from 7am to 7pm while for the ones at Baie Ste Anne and Grand Anse on Praslin, as well as on La Digue, will be from 7am to 5pm. In addition, La Digue station will remain closed on Sundays. Beau Vallon station will open from 6.30am to 7pm and the station at Baie Lazare will open from 6.30am to 6pm.

As mentioned in one of our previous articles, the chief executive of Seypec is urging members of the public to stop panic buying LPG gas as this is creating a pressure on the bottling plant. He noted that with the arrival of a LPG tanker there will be a stock that will last for six months. There is no need to buy gas in bulk.
