Pharmacies around still open |30 March 2020
On our round in Victoria during the weekend we were able to see some pharmacies open such as Pharmacy D’Offay at Hypermarket, Medicare, Medix and Central Point Pharmacy.
We talked to Shibu Samuel, manager of Central Point Pharmacy, who said they are open from 8am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.
“I think we are stable as per the department of health’s notifications but I think it's best for us to practice social distancing and stay home to prevent the spread. We may run smoothly for the next month but definitely need to replenish the stocks within four weeks.”
Marie Yvonne D’Offay, director of D’Offay Pharmacy, also chatted with us and noted that “In line with President Danny Faure’s speech, D’Offay Pharmacy is adjusting its opening and closing hours as from Monday March 30, 2020. It is imperative that we respect the authority and the measures that are being put in place. Therefore our outlets at Bois de Rose complex, Beau Vallon, Baie Ste Anne Praslin and La Digue will be open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
D’Offay Pharmacy OJ mall will continue its operating hours as usual from 7.30am to 4.30pm. On Sundays all the pharmacies will operate as usual from 9am to 1pm with the exception of Beau Vallon which will remain open until 6pm.
Regarding the stocks, Mrs D’Offay stated that some of her freights are stuck in Paris, India, USA but she still has a good stock for the next months.
“People went into a panic buying mode and bought lots of flu related medicines and hand sanitizers. We are having new stocks hopefully next week from Nairobi, South Africa and Paris. People have to obey the guidelines and that’s the best way to protect themselves,” noted Mrs D’Offay.
