Indian naval ship arrives with equipment and spares for army |18 March 2020

Two Indian naval ships – INS Tir and ICGS Sarathi – are expected in Port Victoria today to donate necessary and urgent equipment and spares to the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces.

The request for the equipment and spares was made by the government of Seychelles recently and falls within the excellent bilateral relationship between India and Seychelles.

“Although the ships were headed towards their home port in India due to the ongoing global health emergency, the government of India decided to prioritise the delivery of the equipment and spares in Seychelles owing to the close and friendly ties between the two nations and the urgent necessity of the requirements,” says a communiqué from the Indian high commission. “However, keeping in view the safety and wellbeing of the crew due to the emerging COVID-19 situation in Seychelles, it has been decided that the crew of both ships will not disembark from the ship,” adds the communiqué.
