It takes a village to change a community, and no one takes that more at heart than the Seychelles National Youth Council who rewarded a group of youth workers that had worked tirelessly to make a difference in their respective community last year.

This second youth worker award took place on Friday afternoon at the Plaisance district administration.

The big winners of the afternoon were Francisca Renaud, who won most outstanding activity at district level, and Amanda Maria who won best mobilisation district regional and national event.

Franca Esparon and Christophe Philoe also won for most improved and most supportive youth workers respectively.

However the coveted prize of the afternoon was the overall best youth worker which goes to the one who has done the most good for their community in the past year, and this went to Sabrina Dick.

“Community work is a challenge but it brings many positive impacts towards the people being helped. This award is an opportunity for all workers to reflect on their performance and try and improve on that,” said Ghislaine Belmont, deputy chief executive of SNYC.

She added that youth workers should continue to work as a team as their work is of great importance in an ever changing society.

She also took the opportunity to thank all partners that work with SNYC.

Speaking to the press following the ceremony, overall best youth worker Ms Dick, a resident of Mont Fleuri, noted that she has been a youth worker for a year now and it is very rewarding.

“It requires a lot of effort but SNYC and I try our best to help the youth of our communities. Those award is not only for me but also for all the youths in Mont Fleuri,” said Ms Dick.

She also thanked everyone who have helped her including her MNA, Hon. Jean-François Ferrari, the district administrator, the CEO of SNYC Penny Belmont and her mother.
