The Universal Peace Federation Seychelles conducted its first annual meeting on Saturday, February 15 at the Guy Morel Institute at Ma Joie. The meeting also served as a relaunching of the association as it had been dormant for several years.

“Following a conference we attended in 2018 in Senegal, we decided to re-launch the association as its aim is to promote peace, happiness and good values, which we lack a little,” said Rosemary Elizabeth, the secretary general of the association.

The association is a branch of the Universal Peace Federation based in New York that provides a platform for people of diverse faiths to contribute their wisdom and work effectively for peace alongside representatives of government, business, and civil society.

Ms Elizabeth noted that UPF Seychelles will only be focusing on the social element of the association and not the religious one as to allow everyone from all beliefs and faiths to join.

The activities for the association this year will include visits to low income families, workshops to recruit more members and visits to various secondary schools around Mahé to spread their message.

So far the association has 15 members, and Ms Elizabeth encourages everyone to join as it is an association that advocates for love and peace.
