French cheesemonger shares his passion for his craft |18 February 2020
“Cheese brings people together! You cut, and you share!” For 35 years, Bernard Mure-Ravaud has been making cheese in Grenoble. And his passion for his craft is unmistakable.
This enthusiast is proud to offer more than 150 varieties of cheese. As a “cheese finder”, he hunts rare products such as Bleu de Termignon (produced by less than 6 farmers) or Beaufort d'Alpage (produced 100 days a year, at an altitude of over 1500m) and delights his customers.
Crowned best Craftsman of France and Winner of the International Caseus Award – which made him the World Champion of cheese makers in 2007 – Mure-Ravaud has more than 150 cheeses on offer in his shop which he brought to Hilton Northolme for a special cheese tasting event on Tuesday February 11.
The event was attended by the French ambassador to Seychelles, Dominique Mas, and several other guests.
“I’m here today to offer more knowledge regarding French cheese and that it can be made anywhere in the world where the climate allows it, even here in Seychelles,” said Mure-Ravaud.
He noted that if there is a demand from the public for his cheese, he would gladly export to Seychelles.
