Seychelles artisans taking part in major craft fair in India

The three Seychellois craftsmen and artisans

A five-strong Seychellois delegation comprising craftsmen, artisans and officials are on a visit to Haryana, India from February 1 - 16, 2020 to participate in the 34thAnnual Surajkund International Craft Mela, the largest crafts fair in the world, organized every year in the month of February.

Mickey Arnephy (ceramic artisan), Emmanuel Freminot (wood, fibre bamboo artisan and trainer), Paul Lepathy (wood, ceramic and paper artisan) Evaline Joubert (training coordinator, Enterprise Seychelles Agency) and Sandra Tirant (business development officer from Enterprise Seychelles Agency) will be participating in the biggest cultural fiesta the world has ever seen with over a million visitors.

The Surajkund Mela authorities provide free boarding, lodging and local transport for the participants of the Mela which is a lifetime experience where the artisans/craftpersons can showcase the unique crafts and heritage of their respective countries and also explore an exquisite conglomeration of intricate crafts, folksongs, flamboyant colours and aroma of different cuisines.
