More people get trained to understand the programme

Entrepreneurs followed a training session on Saturday at the Camion Hall organised by the Enterprise Seychelles Agency in collaboration with the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme.

Those who took part learned about the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) Entrepreneurship Programme and how to complete the online application form.

Noussira Daman also shared how to develop a winning business concept for TEF.

Angelic Appoo, chief executive of Enterprise Seychelles Agency (Esa) noted that their organisation “is about promoting entrepreneurship and valuing the entrepreneurs”.

“Esa is very happy to partner with the alumni of the TEF programme, Noussira Daman, on this project. We are happy to help people understand more on various avenues on how they can develop themselves,” she added.

As for Ms Daman, she noted that “the workshop is to sensitise the young people about the TEF programme and to assist them about how to fill the form. In the past, many filled the forms wrongly thus not benefiting from the programme. They have the opportunity to get US $5,000 and get training. You can even apply or pitch for entrepreneurship competition in the country. The TEF sponsors any kind of business provided that the business is scalable. You have to have a solid business model as in Seychelles we do not have the tendency of having a proper plan. Many usually open a shop and said they are in business without even doing a feasibility study. The project should also help the community. There is no age limit to benefit from the TEF programme provided you are 18 years old.”

A past applicant also shared her experience with the crowd.
