Justice MacGregor hands over compilation of legislative documentations to Speaker Prea |17 January 2020
The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Francis MacGregor, has handed over years of researched work on the legislative history of Seychelles to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nicholas Prea.
The handover took place in a small ceremony held at Palais de Justice on Wednesday this week.
Justice MacGregor’s work covers the history of the legislature of Seychelles in the form of recorded minutes since 1889 to 1956. And it is important to note that from 1987 to 1993, Justice Macgregor was the chairman of the People’s Assembly of Seychelles and he served as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Seychelles from 1993 to 2007. The knowledge and experience in his tenure in office has prompted Justice MacGregor to compile thorough accounts of sittings and debates through the years into documented ledgers.
The National Assembly library archives will now be enriched with this collection that will be made accessible to members and staff of the parliament for research work.
Following the handover, Justice MacGregor had a brief tête à tête with Speaker Prea, during which they shared their different experiences while in office.
