ANB communiqué Salesgirl, casual labourer remanded for trafficking approximately 500g of suspected heroin |11 January 2020

On Thursday January 9, 2020, the Magistrate Court remanded for 14 days a 32-year-old salesgirl of Ile Perseverance 1 and a 42-year-old male casual labourer of Corgat Estate for the offence of trafficking in a controlled drug.

They were both arrested on Wednesday January 8, 2020 by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) of the Seychelles police force when approximately 500 grammes of suspected heroin was found in possession of the salesgirl at the Mahé Inter Island Quay which later led to the arrest of the male casual labourer, at Providence. They will both reappear before the court on Wednesday January 22, 2020.

Still in this case, the Magistrate Court has ordered that a third suspect, a 33-year-old seaman of Praslin, who was also arrested and involved in this case, be released with conditions that he surrenders his passport or any travel documents to the court and not allowed to leave the Seychelles jurisdictions.
