Goods imported through post or courier subject to R100 fee |04 January 2020

As of January 1, 2020 all goods imported through post or courier, other than packages of documentation, are subject to a fee of R100 on each consignment.

The R100 fee is not applicable on goods imported through post or courier on or before December 31, 2019, but rather on importation on or after January 1, 2020.

A consignment of goods imported through post or courier with a CIF value of R3000 or less shall be exempt from customs duty and VAT as it is currently being applied.

The exemption shall be applicable to consignment of goods imported for the personal and exclusive consumption or use of the consignee.

The exempted allowance does not apply to alcohol and tobacco products.

All importation by post or courier with a CIF value of R5000 and above will require a Bill of Entry.
