CBS makes annual end-of-year visit and donation to Missionaries of Charity |04 January 2020

In what has now become a yearly tradition, the Central Bank of Seychelles has extended its support to the Missionaries of Charity at Anse Etoile, which has a care home currently housing nine residents.

On Monday, the bank made a donation comprising toiletries, food and other items requested by the Missionaries of Charity to cater for the needs of its residents.

The presentation by the first deputy governor Christophe Edmond was made to Sister Letetia in the presence of the staff and residents.

Mr Edmond was accompanied by other Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) staff including members of the social committee who have coordinated the activity.

He said the gesture by CBS during the festive season is a show of admiration and support for the charitable work being done by the sisters and staff of the Missionaries of Charity and a way for the CBS to bring a message of thankfulness, joy, love, giving and hope to the residents.

He also took the opportunity to wish the sisters, staff and residents a Happy New Year and pledged CBS’ continuous support to the Missionaries of Charity.

It is to be noted that aside from making the annual end-of-year donation, the CBS staff, through its social committee, has also helped to carry out renovation works at the care home in recent years.

In accepting the donation Sister Letetia expressed her gratitude to the CBS staff, adding that such help greatly assists the Missionaries of Charity to care for its residents.

The residents also expressed their gratitude for the donated items and the visit, during which they joined the CBS choir to sing ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’. This is the Christmas carol sung by the CBS choir in the finals of this year’s Office Choir – Sing for Charity competition organised by the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation. The CBS team won the prize for people’s vote in the competition.
