Defence Forces Day is celebrated on November 25 annually since 1982 to mark the victory of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) over a group of mercenaries who came to attack the country.

To mark this year’s Defence Forces Day, a community outreach activity was organised on Saturday at Perseverance where members of the force took part in clearing up areas along the Perseverance school, church and highway of debris and outgrown plants.

Following Saturday’s activities, a thanksgiving mass was organised at the Holy Spirit parish at Perseverance yesterday morning. In his sermon to the attendees, Father Lousson talked about the happiness one’s life is once they accept Jesus. He remarked that soldiers are the protector of our land and a servant called to battle when the country takes a stand.
