The Ambassador for the Order of Malta, Francesca Alexandra Azaïs, gifted President Danny Faure with a copy of her new book at State House yesterday morning.

The book titled ‘Tropical plants in Seychelles’ is a passion project of Mrs Azaïs which explores the various tropical plants in Seychelles and is illustrated through water colour paintings by Mrs Azaïs.

“About two years ago we started the project and it took a while and the President would always ask me when the book is going to be ready. So now finally the book has come out and I had the honour and privilege to present the first copy to him,” said the ambassador.

Mrs Azaïs noted that she fell in love with Seychelles when she visited the country in 1996 and she fell in love with the nature here so she started to reproduce water colour paintings of the different plants that took over a period of four years.

The President noted that we need more work like the one Mrs Azaïs has done to promote the value of Seychelles, not only the sea and beaches but also nature.

The ambassador has dedicated the book to the people of Seychelles because the Seychellois people are in her words “fantastic”.

The book was published with the help of the department of culture and will be launched at a later date for the general public.
