The Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps) is hosting a three-day workshop to enhance the operational and human capacity of NGOs to effectively deliver social programmes and better represent and serve the interests of vulnerable groups.

The workshop, which was officially launched yesterday at the Ceps office, Orion Mall, is being facilitated by George Nicette, who conducted an assessment prior to the training with various NGOs to see their weaknesses and skills in designing and implementing social programmes.

Social programmes are programmes organisations come up with in order to resolve social problems in the community.

“Society is always changing so we have to prepare the organisations who are aiming to help the society. The training is all about giving them knowledge and skills about social programmes,” said Mr Nicette.

Throughout the duration of the workshop the participants will touch several aspects which fall under social programmes such as, networking with different stakeholders, advocacy and strategic approach.

On his part, the chief executive of Ceps, Michelle Pierre, added that there has been a few setbacks concerning the implementation of some of their social programmes so one of Ceps’ objective is to build the capacity of members in order for them to be able to design their projects and implement it.

The training was funded by Forus, which is an innovative global network empowering civil society for effective social change.

Mr Pierre added that Ceps will also be adding an internet café at their headquarters in order to facilitate the daily activities of their members.
