City Ladies, Cascade women’s semifinalists

City Ladies and Cascade are the first two women’s teams to reach the semifinals of the ongoing Seychelles Volleyball Federation (SVF) Cup.

Boasting some of the country’s top female players, City Ladies dispatched La Digue United 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-10) to move into the semifinals. They now await to know their opponents until after the taking place of the quarterfinal match between Arsu and the winners of the SeyPearl/Victoria Sisters clash in the bottom half of the draw.

Former champions Arsu did not have to break a sweat to progress in the competition as they won by walk-over against Juniors.

In the top half, Breakaway showed no pity for fellow second divisioners St Louis Bombers, winning the match on a 3-0 (27-25, 25-9, 25-14) score to reach the quarterfinals where they will play Island Waves who won a bye straight into the first round.

In the other quarterfinal, league champions Cascade steamrollered Mont Fleuri 3-0 and await the winners of the Breakaway/Island waves match.

In the men’s competition, Neo Boyz completed the quarterfinals line-up on Tuesday by dispatching former champions Beau Vallon on a 3-2 score.

Coached by Ruddy Joseph, Neo Boyz, who are already in the Men’s division one Land Marine Cup final against Premium Spikers, will face La Digue in the semifinal. La Digue beat Airwaves Lads 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-17) in their first-round match.

The second quarterfinal clash in the bottom half of the draw is between Juniors and St Louis. Louis edged Neo Boyz Youth 3-2 (25-12, 25-19, 23-25, 23-25, 15-10), while Juniors beat St Francis.

In the top half of the draw, league champions and Men’s division one Land Marine Cup finalists Premium Spikers were given a bye straight into the quarterfinals where they will clash with Ton Neo who eliminated Outsiders in the first round.
