DBS donates kitchen equipment to elderly home at Grand Anse Praslin |14 November 2019

Residents of the Grand Anse Praslin ‘Home for the Elderly’ were graced by the visit from a group of staff from the Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS) to commemorate the International Day of the Elderly which was celebrated on October 1, 2019. This follows the adoption of the home by DBS last year, during its 40th anniversary celebrations.

Upon the adoption last year, the bank renovated their kitchen for a sum of R50,000, hence the highlight of the visit was a donation of kitchen equipment worth R20,000 ranging from cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, pots and pans which will surely come handy to the elders.

“We wanted the elders of the home to know that they are thought of on their special day. This comes to show our appreciation towards the contribution that they have made to our economy,” Veronica Vidot, PR and marketing officer of DBS, shared.  “This is part of our corporate social responsibility activities and we are honoured to have had the chance to spend some time with the elders of the home and to have contributed towards their wellbeing.”

Cindy Jean, who is responsible for the home, accepted the donation on behalf of the seven inhabitants who cheered on. “We are very grateful to DBS for this donation and to have spent some time with us, especially on such an ideal and special day. We are happy that they show much care towards the home, often checking up on us and keeping a close relationship with us,” a very grateful Miss Jean expressed.

The DBS staff spent the day with the elders helping to clean around the home and painting a few spots which needed a touch up.
